DEIA Update

Staff and Board are kicking off our work with ChrisTiana ObeySumner of Epiphanies of Equity for continued assessment, training, and the development and implementation of a strategic plan to move us towards building a more inclusive and equitable arts organization. We fully recognize that the process of acknowledging and dismantling the inequities in our culture, policies, systems, and programs will be a long and evolving effort, and we are grateful that ChrisTiana has agreed to work with us.

Staff Structure Update

Over the last few months staff and board members have been doing deep introspection, learning, and discussion to prepare for the search for our next managing director. Guided by the writings of Vu Le of nonprofitaf.com and inspired by the work happening at organizations such as Seattle WorksRVC, and Resist Foundation, we are moving to a worker self-directed organizational structure.

At its core, a worker self-directed nonprofit is an organization in which all workers have the power to influence the realms and programs in which they work, the conditions of their workplace, their own career paths, and the direction of the organization as a whole. (via SELC

By distributing organizational leadership and power in this way we hope to better utilize the perspectives and skills of all staff members, and reduce decision-making bottlenecks. We believe that this will help make us better at living our values, fulfilling our mission, more accountable to each other and our community, and more receptive and adaptive to change.
