Uzbek Potters at Pottery Northwest
Free demonstration—Sunday, July 19, 3 pm
Pottery Northwest and The Seattle-Tashkent Sister City Association jointly hosted two outstanding Uzbek ceramic artists from the Ferghana Valley of Uzbekistan for an educational and cultural exchange: Rustam Usmanov, a member of the Art Academy of Uzbekistan, and his son, Damir Usmanov. Rustam's work has been shown at the Hermitage and other famous museums and art galleries. Damir is a young artist following in his father's footsteps.
On Sunday, July 19th, at 3 pm, at Pottery Northwest, Rustam and Damir gave a demonstration of their decorating and clay working techniques. The Seattle-Tashkent Sister City Association then provided a feast of traditional foods of Uzbekistan.
