Recently i have been interested in surface decoration in relationship to the figure or the figure's apparel. The clothes can make the man (or woman). I like the psychology behind putting on heavily decorated clothing, be it for fashion, ritual, or celebration. It takes a special person or a special event to be so bold. Most of the figures I make with this type of decoration range from between five and seven feet tall. What I also like at this scale is that they start to transform into architecture. Yes it is still the figure, but it is also a building and the decoration becomes tiles.
