Alya Khan

I have tasted the deliciousness of the food cooked in earthenware, and have drunk cool water stored in earthenware pots without any glaze embellishment. I like that simple, functional, quiet pots, are part of our daily life activities. It is this experience with pottery that has drawn me to indulge myself with clay. I cherish the decadence of porcelain, and the righteousness of stoneware. I find myself attracted to all sorts of surfaces that surround the clay bodies, even the unexpected gifts of a vapor firing. I would like to explore the interaction of clay and the unlimited surfaces possible to capture the fascination of the user of my pots.
