I am interested in the idea of self-consciousness. The absurdity of a normal day. Things that make me go hmmmmmmm. Squeezing into my favorite pair of jeans. Why I just dreamt I was sitting in math class again, naked. These are just a few things that come to mind. Often the objects and people I chose to represent in my work are throwbacks from my past, having grown up as a middle class mid-westerner. Stylizing and exaggerating them gives me the chance to create a new psychological effect when a viewer is forced to deal with the imagery in a different scale, material, and context than they often experience.
